Data Interchange

Any time data needs to be shared or transferred, whether it’s between district software applications or between school districts, it is imperative that the transfer is secure, accurate, and timely. Particularly in the case of school district transfers, the exporting district and the importing district are often using different applications, which can be a fatiguing experience, thus the data interchange program.

The goal of this program is to create a solution that continuously gathers data from various district applications and shares it through a publish-subscribe system. This system is designed to handle an expanding range of industry-standard data models, infrastructures, and application programming interfaces (APIs). As a result, school district application vendors can exchange data without needing to understand each other’s software architectures.

Jitterbit was selected and implemented as a standardized solution, which provides robust and reliable integration between a variety of architectures. It allows educational entities to automate their critical business processes with real-time alerts and visibility into potential errors that may occur though integration creation.

This tool set is being used to:

  • Eliminate overhead of redundant processes (double or triple entry)
  • Standardize data transfer processes
  • Facilitate seamless, secure electronic access to data integration maps, processes, and other services
  • Support multiple data sources (master and transaction data) in different locations on and off site (e.g., on-premise, cloud, hybrid)
  • Provide a mechanism to monitor and measure data integrations
